The Crew

Our team

The Shakti crew is a team of 8 Indonesian men, most of whom have worked together on Shakti for many years.

David Pagliari � a one time Scott - is one of the owners and skippers of the boat. He launched Shakti and draws from almost 2 decades of diving and exploring the Raja Ampat waters. Bob Brunskill � an Englishman - has worked with Shakto for many years and became an owner in 2015. He runs most of the trips these days and has a decade of experience planning and executing dive trips in Indonesia and working on superyachts in Asian waters.

Dining

Our chef will create meals with a distinctly Indonesian flavour taking advantage of the exceptional local produce and abundant fish and seafood. Meals at Shakti are a mix of Western and Asian and may be tailored to suit individual tastes. Fresh exotic fruits, juices as well as snacks are available anytime.

Nispu is our captain who has been with the boat since the very start. He hails from Bira on Sulawesi where the boat was built and worked on the construction as a daily worker - he never left.

NISPU

Johnny is the first officer and the speedboat captain who has been with Shakti for 15 years and knows Raja Amat inside out. He comes from Ambon but his family resides in Sorong.

JOHNNY

Lukas is the head of the engine room and a fine engineer. He is the boat�s electrician, all round technical fixer and has been with us for three years. Like most of his colleagues he is an Ambon man with family in Sorong.

LUKAS

Steven has been on board for 10 years. He is a dive guide, speedboat driver, auxialliary engineer and one of our most knowledgeable team members. He comes from Sulawesi and lives with his family in Sorong.

STEVEN

Edwin has been with Shakti for seven years and is in charge of housekeeping but can also driver the speedboat and do all sorts of jobs on deck. He comes from Ambon and stays with his family in Sorong.

EDWIN

Oriyen is from Misool (one of the four principal Islands of Raja Ampat) and has been part of the Shakti family for 15 years. He is our �fixer� and covers a very wide range of responsibilities, notably with regard to the local populations on far away Islands (being a Papuan he is well placed to take on this task). His family also lives in Sorong.

ORIYEN

John is the boat�s crew cook and generally helps out in the main kitchen. He has been on the boat for four years and hails from Ambon.

Frans. He joined us in July 2019 with a wealth of experience as a liveaboard speedboat driver. He is a great all rounder - carpenter, fixer, deckhand and has huge experience of reading the currents and helping select the best entry points for our dives and snorkels. From Ambon, his wife and kids live in Sorong.

Wano. He has been part of the Shakti family since he was a young boy, his family live right next to our mooring in Sorong. originally from Misool in South Raja Ampat, he recently completed engineering school and is the second engineer on board.

Didi the chef. Originally from Java, moved with his parents to Sorong 50 years ago. Didi has been cooking up a storm on Shakti for nearly 10 years and his work rate has never dropped!
